Why a Quest....and not a Journey?
I was thinking of why I wanted to embark on a Quest rather than a Journey? The reason is that when I think of a Journey, I think of a tranquil passing from one place to another; such as a trip, voyage or an excursion. When I think of a Quest I am reminded more of an arduous embarkment to obtain a deeply desired object or as in my case an inner desire for transformation. Dorothy and friends went on a quest for the way back to Kansas to obtain brains, courage and a heart. Frodo Baggins' quest to destroy the darkly powerful ring brought him through inner struggles of temptation as well as battles with eternal warfare. All characters in some way overcame and dealt with inner personal issues, fears and doubts. Along the way, all either developed or deepened their friendships with those who joined them on their Quest. I have not shared this blog with many people yet, just a select few. I am a little scared of what I might have to face about my self, but I am looking forward to learning and growing from the inside out.
